If I remember correctly, someone used dummy variables in RAPM to analyze the value of floor spacers (good three point shooters) in a lineup. Am I crazy, or does someone else remember this? If so, please help me find that post as I've been searching with no success.
Thanks!
Spacing RAPM
Re: Spacing RAPM
I don't recall immediately where that was. I'd be interested too The only thing I found was some talk about Bonner's RAPM. http://www.apbr.org/metrics/viewtopic.p ... rapm+space
Your question and its phrasing though leads me to wonder if there might be some possible hybrid use of sportsVU spatial data with the RAPM technique to find the estimated RAPM impact of players shooting from certain spots or defending from certain coordinates relative the shooter or other teammates and opponents being in certain spots in the 1-3 seconds before the shot. If one could boil the impacts down to one estimate maybe would be easier to analyze the spatial information than trying to analyze the spatial information by itself. One could then try to focus the work on how to improve player positioning to the most beneficial places in set plays and with general movement principles.
