not retained despite having the best defensive team in the league the last 5 seasons (100.9 pts/100poss allowed, lowest, 47.1% eFG% allowed, lowest), and the league's 8th best W-L record (48-34 average record)...

Bird again showing lack of self confidence in his current job?
The team failed to upset the 2nd-seeded Raptors? Indy was about 2.5 ppg underdog, according to SRS. They did about 4 ppg better than that.

But I wondered how Jordan Hill was left out of the playoff rotation. In the season, he was #6 in minutes and points, 3rd in Reb, 4th in Blk.
He was 3rd on the team in WS/48 (.124) and PER (16.4). He started 11 games.
In a meaningless season finale, he went 30 min. So he wasn't unable to go.

Of the six initial candidates, I don't think any of them are upgrades. It seems like Larry Bird is off his rocker for this one
