Re: why warriors post touches many times ?
I believe their post touches help start a lot of their off-ball action, with an offense predicated on screening and cutting.
They lead the league in Cuts (http://stats.nba.com/teams/cut/#!?sort=Time&dir=1) and frequently screen off the ball (https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/th ... s-offense/).
There is also a small negative correlation between Cuts and combined Pick & Roll (Roll Man + Ball Handler) play types across the league (~0.35 R^2) as GSW ran the least amount of Pick & Roll last season.
This article has more details about their offense (https://www.goldenstateofmind.com/2017/ ... mond-green) "Coach Kerr's motion offense, which also utilizes a ton of triangle sets... The Warriors embraced playmaking bigs such as Andrew Bogut and Draymond Green, utilizing their passing ability..."

Is there a reason to think there's more to it than good teams get the ball into threatening places?

Zaza appears to be their only guy above 3 post touches per game, good for 40th place. Their pos touches must be broadly distributed.
