Non-bubble team to bubble up to future playoffs?

Post by Crow »

Besides Warriors, which non-bubble participating team do you think gets to playoffs first and how soon?

Of this group, Pistons had best offensive efficiency, Bulls best defense, TWolves best net efficiency. Hawks probably had the most hype / expectation early and still. Knicks, probably the most angst. Hornets and Cavs largely ignored outside their home markets. Hornets actually the best / least bad record of the group.

I'll probably have more to say later.

All likely to change but how fast, how well? All have changed something in front office / coaching realms very recently or fairly recently. More change likely, generally more likely summer 2021 or later than immediately apart from a couple coaching changes. I'd probably accelerate some other coaching changes. Or all of them. Further GM changes in not too distant future unless real progress is made.

All or almost all will talk some about making playoffs next season. Some more than others. Seems Unlikely to me, at this point and even after expected off-seasons.

Hornets have little of value. Rozier and Washington are not that promising, especially as #1 and 2. Bridges has got to go.

Batum will be last of the past generation millstones to remove.

No chance they make playoffs in next 2 years. A great free agent or draft pick will give them some future hope but won't be enough for soon.

Graham is the best hope. Not sure if you build around him. Keep Rozier or dump for little? Give it a bit more time.

Pistons are probably at least 3-4 years away from playoff contention.

Will a player sell off gain much?

What is the design strategy going to be?

See no prospects for Cavs to go to playoffs in next 3 years.

But will be interesting to see how far their looks awful to me perimeter gets and what they do with their over paid bigs.

Bulls have a lot of major decisions to make, but might compete for playoffs next season if they make good decisions.

Coach, Dunn, Markkanen, Levine, White, Porter. I'd fire, keep, trade, keep, keep with bench for now, trade respectively.

Hawks need a new Coach, new defense, 4 new bench guards and more.

Might get things going but lots of changes needed.

Barrett mostly sucked. (As I expected, at least early.) Rookie. Better start figuring somethings out further. Strengths so far are ft rate, steals, maybe rebounding. Not enough to offset weaknesses yet.
