1948 Lakers-Globetrotters game

Post by MarkJacob »

I'm trying to learn as much as possible about the Feb. 19, 1948, game between the Minneapolis Lakers and the Harlem Globetrotters at Chicago Stadium. No video or audio record of the game exists. A book about the game, "Tricksters in the Madhouse" by John Christgau, says "game stats provided by the Association for Professional Basketball Research were instrumental in helping me determine, by a process of decuction and elimination, who scored what and when." Christgau died in 2018, so I can't ask hi about this. Does anyone know what those statistics are and how I could get ahold on them?

Historical stuff is over here:

It's not been a real active forum of late, but old-timers do occasionally drift through.
There are a few sub-forums where this era is discussed: pre-NBA, Barnstorming, Info Requests ...

box scores are here

The Trotters also played in the World Tournament a few years, and played a series vs the College All-Stars for years.
Guess I'm an old-timer now.
