Re: 2020 Finals : LA Lakers - Miami Heat
Lakers have mild edge on team efg%; but the almost 2-1 advantage on offensive rebounding is their biggest factor advantage. Clear deficits on to% and fouling.
Teams trying to beat them next season should want to do better on defensive rebounding, offensive rebounding or both. Bucks were strong of defensive rebounding in playoffs. Nuggets strong on offensive rebounding. No potential opponent was strong on both types of rebounding in the playoffs. Sixers were probably strongest on overall rebounding in regular season. Heat were better at offensive rebounding in regular season.
Will these 4 opponents be the most likely to chance against Lakers next playoffs? Perhaps. Could you beat Lakers while losing badly on boards? Perhaps with great shooting. But I'd try to mitigate the rebound issue and I wouldn't be that optimistic about surviving a big deficit there.

Re: 2020 Finals : LA Lakers - Miami Heat
Hard to figure this immense rebound disparity. In RS, the Lakers got 3.4 Reb/G more than opponents, while Heat averaged 1.9 more. Should be +1.5 RPG to LA, not 8.2
KCP, Kuzma, Rondo, and (by far) Morris have their best rebounding rates of any series in this postseason. LeBron is having by far his strongest rebounding playoffs ever.
Robinson, Herro, and Bam are having their weakest rebounding spells of the playoffs.

Re: 2020 Finals : LA Lakers - Miami Heat
Age appears correlated. And perhaps another social factor. But probably need more research before deciding on causation.
How much was scheme versus effective effort?
Probably should look at rebounding opportunity data. Doesnt look like many rebounds were contested for the over or under achievers.

Re: 2020 Finals : LA Lakers - Miami Heat
Among also ran contenders, Clippers might improve rebounding with more Zubac. Might be hurt on offensive glass if they lose Harrell. Celtics might lose on offensive glass if they trade / lose Kanter or play him less. Raptors might lose if they don't retain Ibaka. Might gain if Gasol moves out.
Re: 2020 Finals : LA Lakers - Miami Heat
Lakers also giving up a lot of ft / fga to Heat and in playoffs in general (next to worst). Who else could probably exploit this next time? Clippers and Rockets. Rockets did but did not shoot or defend shot well enough and were also out offensive rebounded 2 to 1.

5 game advanced summary stats from b-r.com plus eW/480
These are derived by subtracting their pre-Finals numbers and minutes from current listed rates.
Similarly we can subtract the game 1-4 numbers from these above, and see how rates changed in one game (G5).
(These are just the changes, or deltas, from yesterday to today. The actual values can be seen upthread.)Goran Dragic is quite the anomaly. With his 15 minute appearance in G1, his BPM for the playoffs went from 0.6 to 0.7. This implies a one-game BPM of 4.2, and it's remained there thru games 4 and 5.
His WS/48 coming into the Finals was .097 over 519 minutes. It's now showing as .077. For 15 minutes to drag it down by .020, his Finals ws/48 must be -.615 or thereabouts.
It was bad enough after one game when it was -.259; after 2 games -.544 -- and froze there for the next 2 games, before continuing into the abyss.
