Re: 2018-19 season commentary

I really liked the Warriors a couple of seasons ago, but at this point I'm hoping they switch up something in the off-season, they're just so dull to watch during the regular season. Effort levels in the basement, somewhat understandably. Hoping the Jazz can take care of a relatively easy upcoming s...

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

I have not watched the most Suns games this year but I hear Ayton is very bad on defense, like Kanter-ing. 0.9 blks per 36 and 53rd for centers in DRPM. Reading some Suns message boards, instead of the usual homerism hyping up young prospects, many are complaining about his lack of consistent effor...

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

Among the top 20 most used lineup in league, the Rockets' starting unit is the 4th worst performing. Will it change- the lineup or the results? Start Gary Clark? I'd give it a try. Holy cow. Just looked at their 5-man lineups, his top 3 lineups minutes wise are all over +40. He's the only common fa...

Re: Recent 1st round draft performance by VORP to date

Here's how I had the first rounders ranked heading into the draft (had several 2nd rounders and an undrafted guy in my top 30, but leaving them out for now). 1. Luka 2. JJJ 3. Young 4. WCJ 5. Mikal (Clark) 6. Bamba 7. Bagley 8. Porter (this is one I imagine insider info helps a ton with, at the time...

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

In general I think people over value form on shots, and I think that's what happened with Knox. He looks like a pretty good shooter, but he just doesn't make a high %. Obviously some time to improve. Young continues to entertain even if he's not yet producing. 12th highest USG%, 4th highest AST% eve...

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

Utah could really use a second perimeter scorer, but probably doesn't have the resources to get Beal. Maybe would have a shot at Porter if they wanted to get out of his money.

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

Rockets looked pretty good vs the Warriors. Harden didn't play all that well, but it's starting to look like they've got 8 real rotation guys. Could stand to add 1-2 more for the regular season grind.

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

Favors has played pretty well offensively, defensively think he's struggled some, but I think the whole team has. Finishing extremely well, even hitting a couple of corner 3s. Rubio struggling has hurt him, as he's very much a big who plays off his guards offensively. His pairing with Gobert isn't a...

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

The Hornets continue to amaze me with their ability to underperform point differential. Looking at a 3rd straight season that they're going to lead the league in that measure. I've tried to pinpoint cause, but haven't had any success.

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

Just compiling rookies from Shadows 11/8 RAPM. The 25 rookies with 100+ minutes (unless there's an undrafted guy other than Trier/Clark I'm missing). In minutes order. Doncic -0.80 Young -2.18 Ayton -1.01 Carter -1.17 Trier -0.91 Shai 0.79 (a positive!) Sexton -1.63 Shamet -0.71 Bagley -1.44 Okogie ...

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

Haven't bothered calculating it myself, but I imagine his rapm component is absolutely spectacular right now. +16.1 on court, +28.1 on/off, nobody else above +20.
