Re: 2019 Draft

I've never tried to put together an actual draft model, but just off eye test and a glance at the stats I'd have him 2nd or 3rd in the last decade or so. AD #1 and debating with Luka.

Re: 2019 Draft

Higher/mid lotto seems like a great spot to look for trade downs this season. Most of the guys I'm kind of liking in this draft are looking like they'll go mid-first or later. I'll have to put together at least a lottos worth of guys sometimes. Zion really is something though, pretty dang unique pla...

Re: Dirk, Wade, Vince, Melo career retrospectives

Pau is the first other guy to come to mind.

Vince has been almost shockingly effective at 42.

Re: 2018-19 team win projection contest

Mmkay, so Pacers wins and Grizzlies losses, I can get behind it.

Overall quite happy with how the season has gone in terms of these, held steady with the front pack and that's all you can really ask for. Would like to pull it out over Pelton

Re: 2018-19 team win projection contest

Last year at this time, eminence was still .66 off the lead. A few weeks earlier, it was twice that much. I don't remember a big mid-season tidal change in the NBA. Just a bunch of unrelated individual teams went his way. Nobody ever came back from 1-3 in the Finals, until LeBron- Kyrie, et al. I f...

Re: 2018-19 team win projection contest

Seems like everybody missed on Bucks/Kings. Teams I'm noticeably different from the average on: Hits: Pacers (Dipo injury could blow it up after the AS break), Wolves (maybe factored in team chemistry more than most?), Bulls (seemed like a clear worst in league contender to me, not sure why the avg ...

New Lottery Odds vs Tanking

Just curious if anyone has taken a more detailed look into how effective the recent lotto odds changes have been to combat tanking. Obviously a bit tough to tell until the end of the season. Even if you haven't looked into it, does it feel to you like it's been effective? Have bottom-tier teams trie...

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

I'd say I agree with that. 6-7 seems like the best number to me. Going a bit lower if you've got 'wings' like George that can easily play up.

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

I really liked the Warriors a couple of seasons ago, but at this point I'm hoping they switch up something in the off-season, they're just so dull to watch during the regular season. Effort levels in the basement, somewhat understandably. Hoping the Jazz can take care of a relatively easy upcoming s...

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

I have not watched the most Suns games this year but I hear Ayton is very bad on defense, like Kanter-ing. 0.9 blks per 36 and 53rd for centers in DRPM. Reading some Suns message boards, instead of the usual homerism hyping up young prospects, many are complaining about his lack of consistent effor...

Re: 2018-19 season commentary

Among the top 20 most used lineup in league, the Rockets' starting unit is the 4th worst performing. Will it change- the lineup or the results? Start Gary Clark? I'd give it a try. Holy cow. Just looked at their 5-man lineups, his top 3 lineups minutes wise are all over +40. He's the only common fa...

Re: Recent 1st round draft performance by VORP to date

Here's how I had the first rounders ranked heading into the draft (had several 2nd rounders and an undrafted guy in my top 30, but leaving them out for now). 1. Luka 2. JJJ 3. Young 4. WCJ 5. Mikal (Clark) 6. Bamba 7. Bagley 8. Porter (this is one I imagine insider info helps a ton with, at the time...
