Re: Value of Drawing Fouls
Even if a player doesn't get to the free throw line with drawn fouls, they deserve to have some credit assigned. Right. Additionally there is value in placing a key opponent in foul trouble to the point that the opponent must be benched. Is there any way for the RAPM framework to incorporate this? ...

Value of Drawing Fouls
Has anyone tried to study the benefits of drawing fouls beyond any immediate free throws? I'm more interested in the value of getting your team closer to the bonus and placing opposing players in foul trouble. Any ideas on how to measure this?

Re: NCAA Div I uses for Analytics--new to group
There are a few college teams with SportVU and many more to come. The most notable current teams are Duke and Louisville.knarsu3 wrote: Also, I'm not even sure if SportVu provides anything to college teams. They don't have the cameras so how are college teams supposed to use them?

Spacing RAPM
If I remember correctly, someone used dummy variables in RAPM to analyze the value of floor spacers (good three point shooters) in a lineup. Am I crazy, or does someone else remember this? If so, please help me find that post as I've been searching with no success.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Interesting that LeBron moved up so much as the playoffs were given more weight.

Re: Demystifying Ridge Regression
Thank you for that explanation, it has helped to clarify something I have always been baffled by.
One question though. If the priors are all zero, does the regression become OLS?

Wayne Ellington with an impressive set of 0's across the board. He won't help your team, but then again he won't hurt your team either... which actually kind of helps.

Re: Toronto Raptors using SportsVU
If all of the data was public, including the ghost defender data, what kind of analysis would you most like to do?
Assuming the ghost defender coordinates are accurate, I would like to see which players are closest to their ghosts.

Re: Top values on new metric called "Individual Player Value
If this turns out to be true, then we'll update IPV every 1-2 days so that there's a rapm-based model out there in the public domain in the interim. I know that ours isn't open source and hence not as valuable to you guys, but hopefully it could be a tad of a stopgap until someone else puts a pure ...

It seems that there hasn't been an update to http://stats-for-the-nba.appspot.com/ in a while now...

Re: D-League xRAPM
What exactly needs to be parsed? Something like the points for and against for each 5 man unit between substitutions?

D-League xRAPM
Play-by-Play info is available for D-League games. I would be very interested in seeing xRAPM calculated for those players, but I do not know how to do the calculations myself. Would someone smarter than me be interested in computing this?
